Time Management

TO USE YOUR TIME EFFECTIVLY, YOU NEED TO FOLLOW A SCHEDULE THAT WILL HELP YOU MEET DEADLINES, STAY FOCUSED, AND KEEP APPOINTMENTS

STEPS TO CREATING & MAINTANING YOUR SCHEDULE

To Do List

Making a list of all the activities that you need to perform on any given day is a great framework to start your schedule.

Prioritize your tasks by importance and allocate time to each of these tasks.

The most important tasks needs to be completed first. In between these important tasks do a few tasks that only take a couple of minutes. This will give you a sense of accomplishment as you are able to mark off more tasks in an hour than only the 2 main tasks if working on the importance factor.

Planners

Keeping all your schedules and meetings in one place will relieve the stress of planning. You will be able to see your entire schedule at a glance and make last minute changes as needed.

You could opt for a physical or digital planner or maybe even use an app to assist in the process.

Ensure you record all your activities here to reduce the risk of forgetting something.

Timeout

Leave some time in your schedule for travel between clients, to have a cup of tea, or just to recharge your batteries.

Having a schedule that is to full, can cause burnout and more stress, your mental and physical health needs to be taken care of.

With time between your tasks/meetings you will never be left red faced with a client due to traffic or unforeseen circumstances.

Make It Stick

Persistence is import!!

If you keep at it, it will become a way of life. Just like any habit it takes time to get into the rhythm, but by doing it enough times it becomes easier to maintain.

Each time you plan your day/week/month, it will become easier. Don’t give up after the first try – Do, Do, and Do again!!

Flexibility

Do you know my friend Murphy? He seems to creep up on me often and WILL be visiting you to.

Remember I said have some TIMEOUT, well this is the time you will spend with him.

You might get a flat on your vehicle, kids forgot their books at home, or you did not plan for that unexpected guest.

Always expect the unexpected and be flexible. A schedule is great, but sometimes life happens and you need to make adjustments. Just know that once you have worked through that roadblock in your way, jump back at it.
